Let's console each other...do you have horrible dress shop clerk/owner stories?
I've gained a little weight, plus my wedding might have to be moved toward later in the year. So I needed a new dress. I found a great one online, but it did look, as a few YA folks pointed out, a bit young for my age. I could have had it altered in ways that would still make it great, but decided to look a couple of towns over first. I thought I'd hit the sales and consignment shops and see if I fell in love with something else. Argh! At one shop, I rang the buzzer and lady came to the door, barely opening it and asking, "Yes? Can I do something for you?" "I'm getting married again and need a dress, " I reply. "Ahem," says she, looking me up and down in a disapproving way, "Might I suggest you go to David's Bridal. We don't have anything that fits...regular sized people." She said "regular" as though it were a euphemism for obese, which I'm not (baby got back, you know, but I wear about a 12 or 14 in a bridal dress, and an 8 or 10 in a regular dress). And it shouldn't matter anyway!
