Do women really have to play the seductive role to befriend a man?

Okay so I was wondering if this is true because I don't know I just want friends, and I just feel like I have to be something I am not just to get a guy's friendship. Okay so like my mother, and her boyfriend said I have to show some , and I guess make a seductive facial expression but I don't really feel comfortable with that. Especially since he may look at me as well you know something to do, and I just want a friend to see me for me, is that too much too ask, or is my mother, and her boyfriend right?
