Will I get in trouble for not paying my taxes?

I have become self employed (basically I babysit in my home to stay home with our son), and I am supposed to pay estimated taxes quarterly. I have not paid the third installment, it is about a month late. I can't seem to get myself to do it. I think I'm just so upset about the bailout and the talk of politicians to use money for things that are unimportant that I'm frustrated. Since I've waited to pay it, we've been struggling with money, and we need this money to survive. I wish I had never paid the first 2 installments of this year, but I paid because my aunt and uncle got in trouble after years of not paying and I wanted to do the right thing and be a good citizen. What would happen if I just stopped paying my taxes? I know that most people that babysit or have small home daycares do not pay taxes, and some even receive government benefits. Oh, and I couldn't receive any wic because I pay taxes, if I wasn't paying taxes, the lady said I could receive wic (government istance).
