Whats the best computer to get for college? (not Mac)?

hello =) Im a second year college student looking to get a new laptop. Im not good with computers at all and dont understand the lingo. Im looking for a Laptop in the price range of $700-$800 to use strictly for school stuff like essays on word, power points, and internet browsing with some movie and music downloading. I dont Game at all. I Just want a good reliable computer for school that has good protection and security while still being of good quality.Im willing to spend money for a laptop that will last. oh and if it helps, Im an environmental studies major.I dont plan on taking it everywhere, just the library and cl sometimes. I have no idea where to start looking, so any help is great!
