Iphone applications won't stay open?

Yesterday I updated my Iphone and I added 6 of the applications they offered from the application store. All of which worked wonderfully until my battery went down to just before the red, then when I would touch to open one it would show me the front page of it and then go back to my home screen. I just ped it off as my battery was too low to operate however, this morning my battery is 100% and it is still doing it. How can I get this to stop and my applications to work like they were yesterday?
